Student Expectations

Project Ideas

Laurel High School

National Council of Teachers of Mathematics

Every teacher has expectations of their students. These are mine!

  • Students need to come to school prepared with pencil, paper, and assignments.

  • They need a record of good attendance and need to come to school well rested.

  • Students are expected to display qualities of good citizenship and recognize the authority that their administrators and teachers have in an educational setting.

  • Students need to be respectful of all people in our school, just as they have the right to expect all people in our school to be respectful of them.

  • All of us need to recognize that we are here for an education. Students are expected to display levels of maturity indicative of their chronological ages. Anything less interupts the educational process.

  • Just as your teachers give each day's instruction their best efforts it is expected that each student will do the same with his/her work. If you come to my class and feel that I am not giving my best effort on a given day you should challenge me to do better!

  • Challenge yourself! Be better when you go home from school each day than you were when you arrived.

  • Do not be afraid to make mistakes! Any person in life who claims to have a lot of experience will tell you that many of those experiences were failed attempts to achieve something.

  • Always try your best. If you do not try you will never know how great you can become!

  • If you are having a personal problem that you feel is keeping you from doing your best on a given day then come to the teacher and discuss it. Your teachers are human and they have problems, too!

  • Strive to earn an "A"! Do not be content with less.

  • Poor students do less than is expected by a teacher. Average students do most, if not all, of what the teacher expects. An "A" student does all that a teacher requires and more! So, challenge yourself to do an extra project or research paper. Show that you have an insatiable desire to learn and better yourself. Show that you want excellence for yourself. Show that you want the "A"!

  • Have a great year! Have a great life! Do the RIGHT thing!

    Best wishes for great success,

    Mr. Minner
